Welcome to Around The Globe (AGT) – Where Every Item Tells a Story
For over 7 years, I’ve traveled the back roads and bustling markets of world, building relationships with artisans, family businesses, and traditional craftspeople who pour generations of knowledge into every piece they create. What started as a personal passion for authentic cultural goods has become a curated collection that I’m proud to share with the Culture Square community.
Every item in my store has been personally selected, tested, and verified for authenticity. I don’t work with mass manufacturers or middlemen. Instead, I source directly from the hands that craft each piece – from the Ethiopian cooperative that hand-molds clay jebenas using techniques unchanged for centuries, to the Italian family workshop where pasta makers are still assembled one at a time, to the Moroccan women’s collective hand-painting ceramics in patterns passed down through their grandmothers.
What makes my collection special? I only sell items I’ve used myself or seen used in their cultural context. That Berbere spice blend? I watched it being stone-ground in Addis Ababa and tasted it in traditional wat. That handwoven basket? I sat with the artisan as she explained the symbolism woven into each pattern. That olive oil? I visited the family grove in Sicily where those trees have been producing for three generations.
I believe in fair compensation for artisans, sustainable sourcing, and preserving traditional crafts that are disappearing in our mass-production world. When you buy from my store, you’re not just getting an authentic product – you’re supporting small-scale producers, women’s cooperatives, and family businesses that are keeping cultural traditions alive.
Quality is non-negotiable. I personally inspect shipments, test food products for freshness, and verify that textiles and crafts meet the standards I’d expect for my own home. If something doesn’t meet my criteria, it doesn’t make it to my store. Period.
Many items in my collection have been featured at Culture Square dinners, giving you the unique opportunity to experience them firsthand before purchasing. I work closely with several hosts to supply the authentic tools, ingredients, and serving pieces that make their dinners special. When you attend one of these dinners and fall in love with a particular spice blend or serving dish, there’s a good chance you’ll find it here.
I’m always hunting for new treasures and expanding my relationships with artisans. Check back regularly for new arrivals, seasonal items, and limited-edition pieces that I bring back from my sourcing trips.
Thank you for supporting authentic craftsmanship and cultural preservation. Every purchase makes a difference.
